SMP is a cosmetic treatment that uses tiny pigment impressions to create the appearance of closely cut follicles or reduced scalp contrast. The technique is simple to explain. Making it look believable is the difficult part.
01 · SHAVED-LOOK SMP
Rebuild the frame,
not the hair.
For men with advanced hair loss or a shaved style, SMP can visually recreate the pattern of closely clipped follicles across areas where hair has receded or disappeared.
The hairline is the part people notice first, which is why Hair Request treats it as a design decision rather than a stencil. Age, forehead shape, existing side profile and how you actually wear your hair all matter.
A strong result should still make sense years from now. That usually means resisting the temptation to go too low, too dark or too sharp.
02 · DENSITY SMP
Less contrast.
More visual density.
Density SMP is different from recreating a fully shaved scalp. Where enough existing hair remains, carefully placed impressions can reduce how much pale scalp shows through the hair and make thinning areas appear fuller.
Suitability matters. The technique works best when the existing hair can support the illusion. It does not create physical hair or stop future thinning, so the consultation needs to account for what your hair may do next as well as what it looks like today.
03 · SCAR CAMOUFLAGE
Reduce contrast,
not reality.
FUT, FUE and other scalp scars can sometimes be made less visually obvious by breaking up the contrast between scar tissue and the surrounding shaved hair pattern.
Scar tissue behaves differently from normal skin. Texture, colour, age and location all affect what can realistically be achieved, which is why scar work should always be assessed before treatment is promised.
HOW IT WORKS

Not one hit.
Most SMP plans are developed over more than one visit. The exact number and spacing depend on your scalp, treatment area and how the first layers settle.
Assess the scalp, hair loss pattern, existing hair, expectations and whether SMP is genuinely suitable.
Agree hairline position, shape, softness, density direction and the treatment boundary before pigment is placed.
Lay the first foundation and progressively build density and tone rather than forcing the finished look immediately.
Allow the scalp to recover and the colour to settle between visits before the next layer is judged.
Adjust density and detail conservatively once the earlier work can be assessed in context.
Leave with aftercare and a long-term maintenance plan based on how your treatment ages.
SUITABILITY
Sometimes the right answer is no.
SMP can be a strong option for the right person, but a consultation is also there to identify when it is not.

Your consultation confirms the treatment plan and total price before anything begins. Initial-course quotes include the agreed design, planned sessions, aftercare and final review. Future maintenance is quoted separately.
